Honest talk about the school

The school itself is free: paths, the class plan, the review rules, “My path”. Only masters’ classes on the AbsoLive map are paid — and a mentor’s meetings, if the mentor so decides: they set the price themselves. Free and paid sit there side by side.

The school issues nothing and awards no steps. You mark your step yourself on the AbsoLive ladder. You keep your notes, and if you decide to lead — your own class on the map, which you publish yourself. The school is not an educational organisation and issues no documents.

AbsoLive answers “where and with whom can I do something right now”. The school answers “where do I grow next, and how do I start leading my own”. Classes live on the AbsoLive map; the school leads you to them.

There are no video courses, subscriptions, instalment plans or promises of a job here. Live masters with names teach — in person, at your place or online — and the school shows a route through their classes and the review rules.

Yes: a first class is for people two or three steps below you. First you watch and co-lead, then you lead a part and a first class with a mentor. Except for activity areas with risk — there, only next to a master who has their own training — and except for health and mental health. Students are adults only.

The school does not vet masters and does not call anyone “verified”. It shows what is known about the leader: a page on AbsoLive, their own classes on the map, what the master confirms about themselves. Masters on AbsoLive may have ★ and a “Verified master” badge — these are AbsoLive’s marks; the school does not award them. The rule on who may publish a programme on the school’s site — fill in: owner’s decision.

The lines of the AbsoLive ladder are written so you can recognise yourself: “I keep a strum and a fingerpicking pattern going and change Am, Dm and E without stopping my hand.” The reckoning is yours. Notes in “My path” and an open class give you something to go on, without tests.

In the first version, the school is for adults only. Classes with children need their own rules and checks, and the school will not rush them.
